Oldest Coin Yet

I wasn't going to post this because the coin is in such poor shape, but it is old and by blowing up the picture you might be able to make out what it is. It is a 'Shield Nickel', and they were minted between 1866 - 1883. They were the first nickel the U. S. minted that contained no valuable metal, such as gold or silver. The first picture is the back, which has the shield, and the picture on the right is the front, with a big '5' in the center surrounded by stars. Very poor shape, but very old! This coin was found at Chance School.

Wow, that one's definitely seen better days. Very cool, though!
