I'm OK, I'm OK

Just got back from my 3 month checkup with my Cardioligist.  Here is a picture of my X-Rays.

I'm going in for an Echocardiogram Monday, Feb. 25th.  Just routine.  He said I'm doing fine and that I have NO restrictions.  So, I can now cut grass or shovel snow as needed!  I won't have to have anyone cut my grass for me.  Thanks Boys!, but I'll be able to do it myself now.

I need to have a hip replacement.  But, my hip Doctor can't do that surgery until I get off my blood thinner medicine.  I found out today that I must be on that at least a year before he'll let me get off of it to have surgery.  So, I'm looking like I might wait until late next Fall before I have that hip replacement done.

So, good report.  I won't have to go back until next year for my one year check-up!

How many years young am I?

Duh!  I'm pretty sure as I celebrate each Birthday, I'm one year older, not younger.  I hate the term 'Young' when telling how old you are.  Such as," He's 80 years young today!"  No he's not, he's 80 years old!  Was he 160 years old when he was born, and each year he's gotten younger?
Is that phrase supposed to make the person feel better?  Well, you're not 80 years old, you're 80 years young!  Oh, well, now a feel a hell of a lot better!
And, if you're going to use that phrase, when do you reverse it?  I mean, when you turn 7, you're 7 years old.  When you turn 21, you're 21 years old.  Just exactly what age do you change it from 'old' to 'young'?
I don't know, but every time I hear somebody say they're so many years 'young' my initial reaction is 'Idiot'!

Another Round of Golf in the books for the Year!

Any round of golf you can get in this time of year is a good round.  I know that.  But, it's still my least favorite time of year to play golf.  It's cold, so you have to be bundled up.  All the grass is dead, so there's no grass to hit off .  The greens are usually slow and bumpy.  The ground is soft, so you get NO roll, and hitting shots off soft, muddy, no grass fairways is not easy.  But, like I said, any round of golf you can get in this time of year is a good round.
So, I didn't play well.  Besides the conditions, I've been off for about 10 days trying to recover from a Cold.  I played Iroquois GC today and shot a 45 - 43 = 88.  My handicap at Iroquois is 9, so that netted me a 79.  You just have to be around 70 to even think about being low man for the day, and the Team needs to average in the low 70's to win Team.  Needless to say, I wasn't low man, and I didn't help our team!
Besides playing poorly, I got caught with a low handicap during our "Winter Freeze" on handicap adjustments.  So, I have to live with my handicap until Spring.

Seasonal Cold keeps me from playing golf

I started feeling a little poorly last Tuesday, before I went down to Shawnee GC to play.  From that point, my Cold just got a little worse each day.  I skipped playing last Thursday, and I'm pretty sure I'll skip playing tomorrow.  I'm trying to get a lot of rest and drink plenty of fluids.  I would imagine that with that health program I'll start feeling good in several weeks.
We had Jillian spend the night Saturday night.  She's a hoot!  When she's around I can't help but laugh at many of her actions.  She's smart, quick witted and very impulsive.  Mary Lynn told her once about our signal we use from the basement if we need one another.  Just knock on the wall.  While Mimi and Jillian were getting out the hide-a-bed, Mimi mention we needed Grampy to help and right away Jillian grabs the handy shoe horn and knocks on the wall.  It worked!  Grampy appeared immediately!  When Mark, Kim and Erin got here to pick Jillian up, Erin said she had something for Jill in the car.  Jill jumped up, "Let's go!".  They had just walked in, but if Erin had something for Jill in the car, she was ready to go!
I haven't been able to play much golf, and I'm not signed up for anything else at the Zoo the rest of this month, so I don't know what I'll be doing for Blog posts!
They opened the Big Four Bridge to pedestrian traffic this week.  I know we're planning on going down to walk over that bridge soon.  So, that might be a post.  You can't get off the Indiana side yet, though.  They're planning on having that ramp done this summer.  I think that's a pretty neat addition to the Water Front.

Round 3 for the Year was a Little Muddy!

Sloshing up some of the Fairways at Shawnee GC today I kinda felt like this guy.  I hit the ball in one bunker today and when I went in, every step I took my shoes got heavier and heavier.  Shawnee's bunkers after having water stand in them for a while have a little mud.  When I walked throught he mud and then on the sand, the mud stuck to the bottom of my spikes and then as I walked across the sand, it just caked on even more!  It was not a bad day for this time of year, though, and I was glad to get in a round.  The course was soft and muddy, and a slight breeze from the West was cold, the ball didn't carry very well, and the greens hadn't been cut or rolled for a good while.  But, I managed to play pretty well.

I shot a 41 - 39 = 80.  Pretty good for this time of year.  I almost won some money!  Only lost by a stroke on the back nine, and 3 strokes for the 18 holes. My 10 handicap lost to an 18 handicap!  Hard to beat that many strokes.   I putted well today, even though they didn't fall.  I had a lot of long putts that rolled over the edge and stopped a bout 6 - 12 inches behind the hole.  A couple of those putts fall, and I'm in the money!  But, you can't complain about a putt like that from 30-40 feet on a slow, bumpy green.
I was satisfied with my round today, even though I did have way too many really bad shots.  I made a lot of really good shots to make up for it.  It looks like Thursday will be a pretty good golf day, too.  This will be the first time I've had 2 golf days in the same week this year!
