Cemetery at the Zoo

Most people who visit the Zoo never notice that there is a cemetery there. I't a small family cemetery located not far from the Giraffe exhibit. I've been to the Zoo many times but never noticed it until this past summer. The graves are very old, early 1800's, but there always seems to be flowers are a wreath placed there. I wonder if the Zoo does this, or family descendants, or the Zoo is required by the family to do it. Anyway, I found this to be interesting.

I keep thinking I could start a blog that is only about Louisville cemeteries. It would be interesting to research. I’m amazed at how many cemeteries there are all over Louisville, hidden away in strange places—and in many cases hidden in plain sight. Surely most older cities in the U.S. are similar in this respect.
