Penguins on the loose!

My computer seemed to be running out of battery power extra fast, so I set up a spycam to see if I could find out what was happening.  AHA!  Penguins have been breaking into the house and using my computer when I wasn't looking!

We met Mark, Kim and the girls for the St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, the 9th.  After the parade we went into Dairy Queen to eat dinner.  Erin and Jill sampled their treats they got at the parade, and of course, they got some green bubble gum.  Erin can blow bubbles easily, but Jillian was just learning.  She'd close her eyes and blow hard!  Several times her gum came flying out across the table!  But, she did manage to get a few small bubbles.  She's close now, and I'm sure with a little more work she'll have it down.  She definitely puts enough effort into it!
I apologize to my regular readers for not having regular posts.  I'm having trouble getting used to my new computer and how to get pictures on and moved around.  I can't get pictures to download from camera to new computer, so I'm doing this on the old laptop.  Also, I haven't been able to get my printer/scanner hooked up to use.  Because of this, it's the first year in a long time I'm not on any NCAA jackpots.
But, this is just a temporary setback.   I'll be up and posting regularly before long.

Another round of golf ALREADY!

I finally got out to play another round of golf today.  This was round 5 for the year.  I played Iroquois GC and shot a 43 - 38 - 81.  We actually played the back nine first, so the 38 was really the first nine.  We finished on the front nine and I tripled bogeyed the 9th hole.  So, the 43 wasn't a bad score until the last hole!
This was the first time a was able to get out a swing a club for 2 weeks.  I hit some pretty bad shots today, but was able to be my score respectable by putting well.  I did birdie hole #1 with a nice putt.  All in all, I'm satisfied with the round.  I know I need to hit the ball much better, but I think when the grass starts to grow in my shot making will improve.  I just don't hit consistent shots off bare ground.

Enjoying a Slushy!

What color do you think this Slushy was?  The girls enjoyed a Slushy after bowling at Ten Pin Lanes today.
Erin bowled a 105, Jillian a 75, and Mary Lynn a 99.  Jillian is a hoot when she bowls.  She picks her ball up from the rack running to the line, never slowing down, and pitching it as she gets to the line.  All one running motion.  Erin really bowls a good ball.  Many times her  ball went down the middle without touching either side of the bumpers.  And, she got a strike once, and several spares.
I tried to post this picture on 'facebook', but after waiting for the picture to upload for 25 minutes, I gave up.  It didn't take but about 3-4 minutes for it to upload to my blog, which surprised me.

Really?

When I was a lad Downtown Louisville was the hub of all business.  If you needed clothes, glasses, jewely,see a movie, or just about anything else, you went Downtown!
In the late 1960's, this changed.  Why?  The invention of the "Mall".  Wow!  You could get those things in the area of your own neighborhood, with plenty of free parking and all the store variety you could imagine.
Since that time, Downtown has been trying to get the people to come back.  Every Mayor has promoted how great it is Downtown, pouring millions of tax dollars in building up things Downtown to attract people to come back. They feel that's their job.  Hasn't worked.  They built the Kentucky Internationl Convention Center KICC, to attract visitors and conventions.  Hasn't worked.  Lost millions.  They built the KFC Arena.  This will attract people, concerts, etc.  Sure, it's worked some, but the KFC is losing millions annually. Now, the people in charge want to spend 150 million $ improving the KICC so that we won't be losing millions  .  Why do I think this is a bad idea?
Why does Louisville, to be successful, have to have a vibrant Downtown?  Can't things be just as exciting to attend away from the Downtown area and attract people from around the State and around the  Country.  I mean, we have the Kentucky Derby.  It does pretty good, and it's not located Downtown.
Oh well, just my thoughts!

I'm OK, I'm OK

Just got back from my 3 month checkup with my Cardioligist.  Here is a picture of my X-Rays.

I'm going in for an Echocardiogram Monday, Feb. 25th.  Just routine.  He said I'm doing fine and that I have NO restrictions.  So, I can now cut grass or shovel snow as needed!  I won't have to have anyone cut my grass for me.  Thanks Boys!, but I'll be able to do it myself now. 

I need to have a hip replacement.  But, my hip Doctor can't do that surgery until I get off my blood thinner medicine.  I found out today that I must be on that at least a year before he'll let me get off of it to have surgery.  So, I'm looking like I might wait until late next Fall before I have that hip replacement done.

So, good report.  I won't have to go back until next year for my one year check-up!  

How many years young am I?

Duh!  I'm pretty sure as I celebrate each Birthday, I'm one year older, not younger.  I hate the term 'Young' when telling how old you are.  Such as," He's 80 years young today!"  No he's not, he's 80 years old!  Was he 160 years old when he was born, and each year he's gotten younger?
Is that phrase supposed to make the person feel better?  Well, you're not 80 years old, you're 80 years young!  Oh, well, now a feel a hell of a lot better! 
And, if you're going to use that phrase, when do you reverse it?  I mean, when you turn 7, you're 7 years old.  When you turn 21, you're 21 years old.  Just exactly what age do you change it from 'old' to 'young'? 
I don't know, but every time I hear somebody say they're so many years 'young' my initial reaction is 'Idiot'!
