Metal Detecting First for Me

I found a Dollar Coin today. The first one of those I've found. I also found another ring. It was similar to the ring I found the other day, but this one is better quality, 10k Gold. It has the initials GF in the inside, but on the top of the ring is the letter "O". I also found an earring. Don't know if it's gold or not. It was underground and wasn't tarnished at all. So, I'm thinking it's pretty good quality.
All of this was found at Audubon Elem. School, off of Hess Lane.

More Treasure

These wonderful treasures were found at Audubon Elem School grounds. The little brass colored ring has the initial 'B' on it. It's a cheap ring and was starting to corrode. The other 'ring' I believe is not a piece of jewelry. It's too light weight. Just not much substance to it. I think it might be a ring off a ball point or fountain pen. That type of ring, anyway. They were pretty exciting to find, anyway, until I had a chance to examine them. That's the fun of metal detecting, you never know what you'll be digging up next!

Round 59 for the Year

I think I've had enough golf this week. In the past 8 days I've played 8 rounds of golf and 1 scramble. I played Shawnee GC today in my normal Tuesday Golf day. I shot a 42 - 41 = 83. Not bad, but again, not good enough to win the money. I triple bogied two holes in a row, # 2 and #3, and still shot a 42. Again, I can't seem to keep those big holes from popping up. That's what happened in Tennessee. I play steady golf and then all of a sudden, BAM! A big 7, 8, or 9 jumps on my card ruining a pretty good round. I've gotta work to get that under control. My next scheduled round is Saturday at Weissinger Hill GC. It's going to be cold. My goal is no more than a bogey. We'll see.

Tennessee Golf Trip Scores.....

Well, I got my scores from the golf trip. I said I'd post them, even though I'm not proud of them. I played from the white tees, and all the courses were very soggy. You got 'NO' role on any shot, so any par 4 over 340 yards I couldn't reach in two. I think I tried to overswing to compensate for the fact I wasn't able to reach greens in regulation even with good shots. Well anyway:

Monday - 52 - 39 = 91

Tuesday - 48 - 48 = 96 Second round rained out

Wednesday - 51 - 48 = 99 ...........47 - 52 = 99

Thursday - 44 - 46 = 90 ............. 47 - 45 = 92

Friday - 46 - 45 = 91

Overall, I was pretty consistant. Each day we played a different course, so the two rounds I played on the same day were pretty close. Well, my blog is 'BobsBadGolf'.

Lurking at the Bird Feeder

This hawk was sitting on the fence by the bird feeders today. I assume he was looking to feed on what feed's at the bird feeder. I took several pictures of him, stepping a bit closer each time, until he flew away. Several hours later I looked and he was back. I checked my bird book and I think he's a Cooper's Hawk. But I've never been very good at identifying birds.

It's not the Hat...

I wear a hat. I don't like wearing a hat. I don't look good in a hat. But I wear one because I need to keep the sun off my face, ears, and neck. The girls wanted to try my hat on. As I said, I don't look good in a hat. But, as you can see, it's not the hat.

Back from Tennessee

We got back from Crossville, Tennessee last night about 6:30. It was a nice trip. We played 7 of our scheduled 8 rounds, getting rained out on the 2nd round Tuesday.

The picture is the 1st green at Dorchester G. C. We played that course Friday before heading back.This was the only course that we were allowed to take the cart off the paths. Even at this course there were 5 holes we had to stay on the path. All the courses were very soggy. None of the drives got any roll at all. Most of the time the ball hit and bounced back a couple of inches. Needless to say, it did not play well for a short hitter like me. I came in tied for 3rd, with Donnie Middleton. Brian came in second, and the tournament was won by Donnie "Rughead" Dolson. If I get some of the pictures emailed to me, I'll post them at a later date.

The courses were very hilly. The type of courses it would be impossible to walk. On one course, when you left one green, the cart path went almost straight up a mountainside to the next tee. If you tried to walk it it would take every bit of 20 minutes to get to the next tee. That's if you could get there at all. I'm sure you couldn't pull a pull-cart up that path. And carrying your clubs, some parts of the cart path were so steep you would almost be on your hands and knees just to make it up. So, I'm pretty sure a person couldn't really walk the course. Most of the holes you could not see the next tee from the green you just left.

Brian has all the score cards. I'll get my scores from him at post them on my next blog entry. I averaged 94 per round.
