February 3, 1959

50 years ago today. Hard to believe. The day the music died according to "American Pie". People who were young then know what a shock it was. Three big recording icons gone all of a sudden. Buddy Holly, established with many hits, Richie Valens, a couple of hits and up and coming major star, and "The Big Bopper", probably a one hit wonder. I found it funny several years ago talking to some of the younger guys at work that they thought "American Pie" was written about John Lennon.
Buddy Holly is still one of my favorite all-time recording artists.

I listened to a show on the BBC last night about Buddy Holly. There is a play called "Buddy" traveling around the U.S. and Europe and many people were surprised to find out the influence he had on The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and many other band that came about in the early 60's.

We used to dance at the Golden Horseshoe and Club 68 in Lebanon to that music. Wow, it seems like 1/2 a hundred years ago.
