Golf at Eagle Creek

I played round 41 for the year today and shot a 43 - 42 = 85. We played at Eagle Creek GC in LaGrange, and I didn't win any money, but thought I played OK. I had one really bad hole, a par 3 that I tripled. Other than that I played pretty steady. I couldn't make any long putts. I made all my short putts, putts that can easily be missed but you expect to make. If I could have made a few putts and just bogeyed that par 3 I'd be looking at an 80. So, overall, I was pleased with the round. By the way, I know that picture looks like me and my swing, but it's not me.

Fun time at Willow Park Again!

Another fun night at Willow Park. I know this video will take me a long time to download onto my blog, but I believe my readers will want to see it. Jill is really fun to watch getting 'Jiggy' with the music. They had a pretty decent crowd, a little fewer than normal, and the dance floor was really empty. Especially compared to last week. Most songs last night had 4 to 6 couples on the dance floor at one time. These next two weeks should be good dance music. Sunday will be the 'Lost Boys', old time Rock'n Roll. The following week, Aug 15, will be 'Nervous Melvin and the Mistakes'. I haven't heard them for 20 years, but I remember they played a lot of Rock'n Roll, too. Sunday night 7:00-9:00. Be There!

Pine Mountain Golf Trip

14 of us went on a golf trip this past weekend to Pine Mountain State Resort Park. The golf course there was Wasioto Winds GC. It was a nice course, but the fairways were in poor shape. They were wet and burned out. Most drives plugged. With my short drives, with no roll, I was lucky to hit it 165 yards. That meant par 4's, most of them around 365 yards, I was around 200 yards away after my drive. Hard to par them when you can't reach them in 2. We got rained on Saturday Morning and had to stop for about a half hour.
We played one round Friday afternoon, playing our own ball. We played our own ball Saturday morning, then Saturday afternoon had a scramble. Sunday morning we played a 'Shamble'. We each hit our drives, picked the best one, and played our own ball from there. So, my scores were:
42 - 48 = 90, 50 - 50 = 100, 2 under and 3rd place out of 4 teams in the scramble, and 40 - 42 = 82 in the Shamble. Those longer drives I got to use really helped me on Sunday. So, the rounds I played my own ball was rounds 39 & 40 for the year.
I almost ran out of golf balls. I took 20 balls with me and after Saturday's rounds I had 4 left! The course had a lot of water, each one surrounded by cat-tails and high weeds. No retrieving balls from the water. Usually I find more balls than I lose, but on this course you didn't find any balls. Lost balls, usually in the water, stayed lost. But, Sunday I only lost one ball and that was on the 18th hole. I put my drive in the water. I couldn't stand the pressure.
We stayed at the lodge and the food was great. Order off the menu in the mornings and a large Buffet in the evenings. I had fun, now back to the grind of being retired!

Round 38 for the year, an 82 at Iroquois GC

I played round 38 for the year today. I shot a 40 - 42 = 82 at Iroquois GC. I didn't play that bad, but I sure left a lot of putts short. Shorter putts I'd leave on the lip, and long putts I'd leave about 6feet short, then leave it on the lip for a 3 putt. Putting well today I could have shot 77-78 easy.
I'm leaving in the morning for Pine Mountain State Park for a 3 day golf trip. We play one round tomorrow afternoon when we get there, then 18 in the morning Saturday, a scramble Saturday afternoon, then one round Sunday morning and head back home. I hope I can continue hitting the ball OK and improve on my putting. I just need to be a little bolder. All my putts were on line, just short. I'll let you know about the trip when I get back.

SALSA NIGHT AT WILLOW PARK, HOT WEATHER, HOT MUSIC !

There have been a couple of posts on Facebook and Mary Lynn has a Salsa Post on her blog, but I thought I'd post this short video I took last night that pretty much shows how crowded the dance floor was. It was this way every song played for 2 hours.

Topsy-Turvy Update

I thought I'd update you on my Home-made Topsy-Turvy tomato plant. I really didn't want to buy one from the store for $15, so I did my own. I didn't have enough potting soil to fill this pot, so I mixed sand with the soil I had. My reasoning was that it would help it to drain well and not get root-rot from to much water. Good intentions, but what it has done is make me water this plant twice a day or it will dry out. I'm not sure if I can blame it on the soil or the heat we've been having. It has a lot of tomato's on it, but they are small. I think that's mainly due to it drying out every so often when I forget to water it. Several times is looked so bad I didn't think it would come back. But, about an hour after watering it it would fill back out. I don't think I'll do this again, but it was kinda neat to watch grow.

Oh Crap! More Bad Golf!

I know the name of this Blog is Bob's Bad Golf, but I wish I could write about some GOOD golf sometime. I played Weissinger Hills GC today and shot a 45 - 50 = 95, my worst round in a little while.I mis-hit a lot of shots in the fairway today. Just one of those rounds when you feel like "What's the use?". We had a threesome, and the course hooked us up with a single, who rode with me. What a Jerk he was. That may have been one of the reasons I played so bad. I can't stand playing with someone who cusses and throws clubs every time he hits a poor shot. I mean, I could tell he wasn't that good, so why not expect to hit some poor shots when you're out there? Believe me, I'm an expert on hitting poor shots. But, while I don't like it, I feel like I'm pretty easy going about it. I know that I play better than the way I played today. But if I were with 3 strangers, they wouldn't know that, and I don't think I'd need to tell them. If I couldn't play better when I'm with them, then as far as they're concerned, that's the way I play, and I'll let them believe that. I might play with them again sometime and maybe they'll give me strokes. I doubt that I've ever played with someone when they've played the worst game they've ever played. I know people play good sometime and bad sometime, and I never expect that the game they're playing today is the same way they play all the time. This was round 37 for the year. I still had fun.
