A funny thing happened on the way back from the Golf Course.

Well, it wasn't that funny.  But I did find out about the water main break on the way home from the golf course.  And, it made me alter my course.
This early Friday morning.  The hole was pretty big, but they were bringing in a bunch of dump trucks and a big flatbed truck with another large digging vehicle on it.  So, I knew the hole was about to get even bigger!
Here's the hole about 2:30 that same afternoon.  A lot wider and a lot deeper.
And here's the broken line that caused the problem.  It's hard to imagine a line this large, being under the pressure it's under, and sitting there for years not leaking.  I'm not surprised they spring leaks.  What surprises me is that they go so long without leaking!

A little more metal detecting

I  metal detected down at the Water Tower on River Road again today.  I spent about an hour looking around the ball diamond near the road.  This is what I found:

I found 3 dimes, a 1944 penny, and a small gold ring.  Has to be a baby ring.  It's marked on the inside 14K, plus a couple other letters I can't make out.  That's 3 rings I've found in the infield of that same ball field.

A Whatsit?

Here's a question for all my faithful blog readers.  What's this thing and what's it for?
This is located on the bottom of the door jamb going into our Dining Room.  I believe it would hold draw curtain cords so the curtain would stay open?  Those holes look like they would hold something.  But, I'm at a loss.  I've also put this on the Westenders Site on Facebook.  I'm sure somebody out there knows what it is.

Kelly Lost Her Guardian Angel

While metal detecting today at the Water Tower I found Kelly's Guardian Angel
I wish I knew who Kelly was.  I'd give her back her Guardian Angel.  I hope she's being extra careful without him.

Since I've been metal detecting, I've found a total of $153.69 cash.  Plus untold other treasures!

Jillian pulls another Jillian

Mary Lynn and I went to the Cincinnati Zoo with Kim, Judy and the girls when they were on Spring Break a couple of weeks ago.  We had lots of fun.  After the Zoo we stopped for Pizza.  Jillian took the camera and scrunched way back in the corner of the booth to take this picture of all of us.
It was a good picture, but we mentioned that she was the only one not in the picture.  So......she said let's do this again and I'll get in the picture.
This is not a miscue.  She stuck her finger a little over the lens so that her finger would be in the picture.  Only Jilly would think of doing this.  But, she was in the picture!

IT ARRIVED WITHOUT A BROKEN GLASS THIS TIME

It took awhile, but I got my Military Medal Shadowbox in the mail today.  It arrived about 5 weeks ago with broken glass and damaged medals and picture.  I sent it back on March 13th and it arrived today.  It looks pretty good.  I've got it hanging in the basement beside the computer cabinet.

I don't think I've changed much from the picture....do you?  The chevron patch in the upper right hand corner was my rank when discharged.  I was a Yeoman 2nd Class.  In the Navy, you can tell what type job a person has by the emblem on his stripes.  If you notice between the eagle and the chevrons, there are two crossed quills.  This was a Yeoman's insignia.

Another Metal Detecting post

I went metal detecting at the Water Tower on River Road today.  I spent about 45 minutes detecting in the softball field near the road.  Besides finding what you see below, I found a lot of can-fetti.
The small ring I'm pretty sure is silver.  It has .925 stamped on the inside.  And the large ring, I don't know, but I think it's a cheapie.
