Zombie's on Parade
Bardstown Road against oncoming traffic. Some were running around yelling, some Zombie killers running around killing Zombies. It was a wild night! The picture in the upper right hand corner is one Mary Lynn wanted me to post. He was standing out in front of Mid-City Mall and M.L. thinks he probably dresses like that all the time and was wondering what was going on tonight with all these people around here.

Not so bad golf at Iroquois
I played Iroquois GC today. As happens sometime we started on the back nine. I shot a 38 - 40 = 78. Pretty Good, if I do say so myself. I walked the first nine, but I sweated so much I didn't think my body would take walking another nine, so I rented a cart. I've been hotter, I think, on a golf course, but I don't think I've ever sweated so much. It was pouring off me in buckets. Same with the other players. It only cost me $7.50 to rent a cart for 9 holes and it was well worth it.
I can't believe my 78 didn't win me any money. I was beaten out by Ed who shot an 83, with a 16 stroke handicap to my 10 stroke handicap. Oh well, it was a moral victory.
I hit 13 of 18 Greens in regulation (GIR) today. I've never really kept track of that but I have to believe that is a record for me. I've had trouble all summer hitting my 7 and 9 wood. Consistently hitting them off the toe and to the right. I think I have corrected it. So simple. I'm standing just a little bit closer to the ball. Duh! Why it took my so long to figure that out I don't know.

Golf at Oxmoor Country Club
I played Oxmoor CC Golf Course yesterday with Brian, Matt, and Randy. Matt and I partnered up and took on Brian and Randy. We played team total score, match play. We took and early lead on the front nine but allowed them to tie us up after 9. We lost hole #10, but from then on we never looked back. I drained some good putts and the hole started looking like the one on the right. Matt and I ended up winning 4 up. I shot a 46 - 41 = 87. Matt shot and 87, Brian 83, Randy 96. I took a '9' on hole #10 but still shot a 41 on the backside. This was round #39 for the year.

Weekend at Fuzzy's
This past weekend I was a Volunteer Marshall at Fuzzy Zoeller's "Wolf Challenge" Golf Tournament. My responsibility was Crowd Control between #11 green and #12 Tee Box. Sunday the "Crowds" never exceeded 8-10 people at any given time in our area. I worked with 3 other marshalls, J. R. Harris, "Carolina Steve" Wilson, and Steve Stine. Monday, the crowd followed the 4 pro players playing wolf. The 4 pros were, Fuzzy, Boo Weekley, Rocco Mediate, and John Daly. We had nothing to do but sit until that group got to our hole. But, they had so much security and marshall's with them that when they came through the Security People kind of pushed us aside and said "We'll handle it". So, it was fun but I really didn't have a lot to do.
One of the highlights of the weekend was Sunday when I was getting off the shuttle bus at the IUS parking lot. The guy behind me said "Hey, are you Bob Tabler?" and I turned around and met Biggs Tabler. He'd seen my name on my small cooler I was carrying. Many times during my life I've been asked if I was kin to Biggs Tabler, and I'd never met him. We talked awhile then parted. Having been asked so many times in my life, I'm glad I finally got to meet Biggs Tabler.

Once again, more bad golf on Tuesday
I played Shawnee GC today. Brian was off work so he joined the 'Old Guys' on the course. I played terrible. I seemed to have lost it in the past week or so. I must have topped 6 or 7 shots today. I shot a 44 - 46 = 90 from the yellow (senior tees). Brian shot a 38 - 37 = 75 from the white tees. I'm thinking of taking a week off to see it it helps me get the 'feel' back. I did walk the 18 today and it was hot. I feel good about being able to walk 18 holes in this weather and live to tell about it. I guess that's something. This was round #37 for the Year. You'd think I would just keep getting better. But I've learned over the years that golf is a game of ebb and flows, ups and downs. As the 'Terminator' says, "I'll be back"!.

Death of a Tree
I watched them take a tree down across the street today. It was a large tree, very bushy, and it took them all day. After watching them awhile, after all the bushy branches were removed, I decided I'd better take pictures and make this a blog entry. People often ask me what I do now that I'm retired. Well, kinda stuff like this.
Local News Flash...
One of the stories I saw on the news last Tuesday about the high water was a story of an 'elderly Gentleman' who went around some barracades and drove into standing water. This elderly Gentleman's car started floating and he had to be rescued by MSD personnel who were on site. The photo showed his car, as the water receded, sitting on top of a fire hydrant. Some of you may recall this story, or picture. Well, I found out today that the "Elderly Gentleman" involved was none other than our neighbor directly across the street in the white house, Mr. Judson Gibb.

Our trip down Main Street
Keeping Louisville Weird
Mary Lynn and I couldn't resist getting a picture of this car parked on Rosewood Ave. just a couple of blocks from our house. Kim seemed to think there was a 'Decorated Car Contest', or 'Art Car Contest', or something on that order in Louisville this week and I would guess this is one of the entries. Anyway, this is helping in the 'Keep Louisville Weird' movement. As you can see through the windshield, decorations weren't just limited to the outside.

It was a Flood of Biblical Proportions
I didn't get the word until almost 10 a.m. this morning that this was the 'Big One'. Luckily I've been trapping the animals for several months now. I gathered all the squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons and neighborhood cats, Male and Female, and loaded them onto the Ark. The water was already very high, but most of my animals have had extensive swimming lessons and this made for easier loading on the Ark. I plan on being afloat for a few days and will look for either the tip of Hogan Fountain's Pavilian, or lookout point at Iroquois Park. See you when the water goes down!

Geography Class
Erin took the time while visiting today to give Mimi a Geography lesson. It took a lot of patience from Erin and to help Mimi work this map of the United States. Mimi repeatedly tried to put the Carolinas on the West Coast. Erin finally had to resort to pointing out pieces to her and telling her to "Try it over here".
